Why are we named Sheepdrove Eco Conference Centre?
Design and construction always had sustainability in mind, and the result is a truly eco-friendly, sustainable structure - and a captivating place that people enjoy. We won the 'Special Award for Sustainable Architecture' in the Civic Trust Awards 2005 in recognition of this achievement.
Eco built
During the conference centre's creation, we minimised environmental impact by using recycled, renewable and local materials - wood being a major component - as well as reduced water consumption. Responsible use of resources also made for a small carbon footprint - for example, by utilising excavated 'waste' chalk to create walls, rather than use newly fabricated materials.
Eco managed
We run the centre in a way that keeps your events eco friendly. Our power supply is 100% renewable Ecotricity. A computerised Building Management System controls the heating and natural cooling process for best efficiency. The clever design of the centre makes the most of natural light, passive ventilation and excellent insulation.
The kitchen specialises in seasonal cuisine, and we source most ingredients from Sheepdrove Organic Farm and its gardens.
